Screening of the film about Jacqueline Lamba at Institut Giacometti

As part of the Alberto Giacometti-André Breton, amitiés surréalistes exhibition, from 19/01/2022 to 10/04/2022, the Institut Giacometti organises series of screenings of documentaries from the Phares collection, starting with Jacqueline Lamba, peintre, on Tuesday 8th February at 6.30pm.

Director Fabrice Maze will be joined for the presentation of his film on Jacqueline Lamba by Alba Romano Pace, art historian and author of a biography on Jacqueline Lamba, published by Gallimard, 2010, and a biography on Frida Kahlo, published by Giunti.

Jacqueline Lamba and Alberto Giacometti’s friendship

 

Jacqueline met the sculptor when she joined the Surrealist group on 29th May 1934 – the day she met André Breton. The friendship between the two artists was immediate and strong. Alberto, a regular visitor to the rue Fontaine, was even the best man at their wedding on 14th August of the same year, alongside Paul Éluard.
