Cities 1970-1983

From the windows of her atelier on the fifth floor of 8 boulevard Bonne Nouvelle, to the balcony of the 14th floor of 6 boulevard de Grenelle, home of her friends, the Mazes, Jacqueline contemplates the rooftops of Paris.

Her large paintings present a canvas of small triangles, squares, and multicolored rectangles. Blacks, purples, mauves, reds, and pink ochres punctuate her Parisian visions as far as the eye can see. These geometric checkers change and dance according to the light of the day. Jacqueline’s cityscapes are reminiscent of the labyrinthine mazes of a contemporary sister: Vieira da Silva.
